Over the summer, I've been putting some new things on the website to benefit our members. Just posted is a gallery of pictures from our first season in operation (2006), and from this last season's SYC in San Jose. (Wow! Have our kids grown). Its still a little glitchy, (sometimes the header movie ends up in the middle of the page in Firefox; just scroll the page up to make it go back to where it belongs). So, technical difficulties aside, if any of you have pictures from Summer Nationals,(or any other competition) you would like to add to the gallery, make sure and email them to me HERE and I'll get them posted as quickly as possible.

Final results have been posted. A hearty well done to Rob Radanovich fencing outside his normal weapon (epee) winning an 8th Place medal in Veterans 40-49 Men's Sabre.
Thanks to all our competitors who fought hard this last season. You are putting FFA and Fresno on the map by all your hard work.

The 2008-2009 USFA schedule has been posted here. We'll link to the Baycup 2008-2009 and the Regional Youth Circuit schedules when they are posted, which should be soon, to allow our members to plan their competitions in the new season.

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Congratulations to our Bronze medal winners, Katrina Martinez and Jessie Radanovich for their excellence in the Youth 10 Women's Foil and Youth 12 Women's Epee respectively. Our veterans have yet to fight, so stay tuned for more results after the last bouts this Thursday.

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Welcome back to our competitors who travelled to the NAC in Portland, Ore. Although our results were mixed, with Jesse earning a 3rd place bronze medal in Y12 women's epee, and Jeremiah narrowly missing a top 8 finish in Y14 men's sabre, everyone gave their best.
The season is winding down, with only a few more Baycups and one more RYC leading up to Summer Nationals at the beginning of July...and so begins the big push to train to new levels. Stay focused and let's show them what we can do at Summer Nationals!

Saturday, April 5, 2008

The results for the SYC in San Jose are available using this LINK. We had a lot of new competitors attending their first tournament at the Convention Center, and a good time was had by all. Our members did very well, scoring gold (Jessie does it again!), third place bronze (nicely done Jeremiah [earning his D08]!), two other third place bronzes (Katrina in Women's Foil and Andre in Men's Epee) along with a number of top 8 finishes.

     Next stop: NAC Portland!

Monday, January 21, 2008

Another New Year has begun, and with it the spring half of the USFA fencing season. We've already had competitors at tournaments this month, with some important ones upcoming, including the Super RYC in San Jose (this March), the Portland NAC in April, and of course Summer Nationals (also in San Jose) in July. Also coming up is the second Academy Cup compeition on March 1st, and the Spring Break fencing camp here at the club for additional training for our competitiors.

Our fencers have been working hard and deserve to have their results posted quickly. Sorry about the delay folks, but all2 results have been updated and posted on the Results page. If you see (or don't see) and entry, or one that is in error, be sure to let us know.

The club is also growing rapidly with new members signing up over the holiday vacation, and the Fresno Fencing Foundation has an opportunity to take fencing into the inner city in concert with the gang prevention program sponsored by the City of Fresno, possibly as early as this spring. Exciting times! More will be posted as news is made.

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

Our competitive youth fencers are back from the RYC #1 at Kezar in San Francisco, racking up the medals thick and fast.
Jessie Radanovich came out of the blocks winning GOLD in Youth 12 Women's Epee and SILVER in Youth 14.
Jacob Baker turned in a terrific performance bringing home a SILVER medal for Youth 14 Men's Epee.
Jeremiah Gunn hacked his way to a 3rd Place BRONZE in the Youth 14 Men's Saber event.
Katrina Martinez fought her way to a 3rd Place BRONZE for Youth 10 Women's Foil.

A special congratulations to Adam Hendey, who came with arm's reach of making top 8 in the Youth 14 Men's Saber event; his first competition as a saber fencer. Well done!

The season is in full swing, and our fencers are doing very well in their competitions. Most of our competitors will be going to the RYC at Kezar Pavilion this weekend, and our elites will be in Dallas the following week.

Our non-profit, the Fresno Fencing Foundation, is sponsoring its first event: a two-day fencing camp for beginning fencers over the Thanksgiving holidays. Click on the link on the left for more details.

It going to be a wild ride all the way to Christmas, with competitions almost weekly. Keep an eye on our RESULTS page as it is updated to reflect our competitor's accomplishments.

Monday, September 17, 2007

Summer is over and the push for the new season has begun, with Baycup events beginning this last weekend and the first Cadet/Div II and III NAC in a mere three weeks.
School is back in and everyone is getting settled in with their new routines. There are a few new things at the club as well.
First is the posting of our schedule of beginning and competitive fencing camps happening in December, April, June, July, and August. Second is the formation of the Fresno Fencing Foundation, a non-profit foundation raising money to help pay for our athletes and their coaches to train and travel to national and international events.

Its gonna be a great ride! Now let's get to work.
