Fresno Fencing Academy's Head Coach
Vladimir Ostatnigrosh Fresno Fencing Academy is located in the great San Joaquin Valley in California and teaches fencers the three Olympic sports of foil fencing, epee fencing, and sabre fencing. Jessie Radanovich with Coach Vladimir Ostatnigrosh.
The professional coaching staff at our fencing club has developed a series of programs to help all fencers, beginner to grizzled veteran, young and old alike, learn and improve their fencing by bringing the highest levels of educational experience, athletic skill, and love for the sport to the design of fencing lessons that are unique, fun, and fulfill the needs of all individuals and groups interested in the modern art of swordplay.

Meet Our Head CoachVladimir Ostatnigrosh is a professional fencing coach who grew up in Ukraine in the former Soviet Union. He began training in Sabre at his local club in Khmelnitsky at the age of 10, moving to Foil and Epee at 13. At the age of 16, he won Gold in Cadet Foil at the Ukrainian Nationals. One year later, he was awarded the highest Fencing rank possible in the USSR: “Master of Sport”. From the age of 17 to 21 (while attending University), Vladimir competed as a Junior Foilist at the Ukrainian and USSR National levels, regularly winning Gold at the Ukrainian Nationals, Silver and Bronze at the USSR Nationals, and earning Gold (twice) at the USSR University Games fencing against the best in the Soviet Union. His excellence landed him a spot on the USSR World team, where he earned 15th place in Senior Foil at the World Cup in 1980. Vladimir graduated with university degrees in physical education, fencing, and coaching and emigrated to the U.S. in 1999. He is now a naturalized citizen and has been the Head Coach at Fresno Fencing Academy since its inception in September 2005. |
